2 things that cost me a lot of profit. Plus a couple of wins.

2 things that cost me a lot of profit. Plus a couple of wins.

Here’s what great about starting all over again.

Now I know what I can do to create a low stress, profitable business.

This week I’m talking about two things I learned while growing my last company Wee Squeak.

They’re gems, and so worth repeating for this next business.

And guess what?

There are two more things that I will NEVER do again.

Why? Because they cost me a lot of time and money.

You see both in this 10 min video:

Here’s how I’ll get my first 100 sales

Recently, I was asked how I plan to get my first 100 sales for my new store on Shopify.

So I made a plan, and I’m sharing it with you in this video.

It’s a 3 part plan.

I’ll build a foundation for long term success.
I want to set myself up for long term success, so I won’t deviate far from the strategies we teach in the Inner Circle.

I’ll run an Event for Proof of Concept.
I want to be sure I’ve got the right product and offer. Watch and see how I’ll run an event for proof of concept. The results will dictate my next steps.

I think I’ll get my first 100 sales at the Proof of Concept stage, but if not…

I’ll run a Major Launch Event for Sales
I’ll take what worked for our Proof of Concept Event and amplify it big time.
The goal will be to open our new store and launch with a Bang! (and lots of sales)

I’m super excited to share this with you.
We’ll be executing in a way that I know has worked in the past.

But that’s not all.

I want to test new things, and innovate a little.

I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve that I can’t wait to try.

The Roadmap from $0 to $50K continues…

Does your product fit this category?

Does your product fit this category?

Here’s why I’ll make a product that doesn’t last forever.

I know what you’re thinking. It kind of stinks that someone would deliberately make a product that is designed to expire, break down, or simply wear out.

But I’m here to tell you, it’s part of my plan. It’s one of my Yellow Rules.

Yellow rules aren’t deal breakers, they’re not red, where I want you stop and consider, but they’re still important. Like a yield sign, you’ll want to slow down and be super clear on where you’re going before you proceed.

Because your choice will affect how you create and execute a marketing strategy. And one path is definitely easier than the other.

My number one Yellow Rule?

Create a product that doesn’t last forever.

Here’s why:

The reason is super simple.

The most expensive sale you’ll make is to a first-time customer. You have to find them because most often they won’t find you on their own.

You have to get their attention. Remember, they’re not looking for you, so you have to create awareness.

You have to get them to your website. Generally, that means you’re paying through ads or Influencers. And, guess what? Most people don’t buy on the first visit.

You have to get your product in front of them enough times that you create a desire for your product. And sometimes you can do that for free, through email and engagement. Sometimes it’s paid, through retargeting. But most often, it’s a combination of both.

Here’s a tidbit for you to ponder:

At Wee Squeak, we counted on it costing us around $7 to find and convert a new customer. So, if you make a product that lasts forever, you can count on a heavy cost of acquisition for every sale.

But when you make a product that doesn’t last forever?

A product that people wear out, use up, break, or grow out of? Then you can sell them a replacement. A bigger size, a new one, or a fresh supply. And selling to an existing customer?

That’s the least expensive sale you’ll ever make.

If you’re already up and running, and you sell a product that doesn’t last forever, I don’t want you to panic. There are exceptions, and there are things you can do. Lots of things.

Watch the video below where I discuss all the things you can do!

Want long term Profit? Do this and get the odds in your favor.

Want long term Profit? Do this and get the odds in your favor.

If you’ve been following the Roadmap to $50K on Shopify, you already know I’m still in the product development stage.

And while it might seem like it’s taking forever to get to the fun part, where I actually have a product, the reality is that what I do now, before I actually pick a product – this stuff is the very stuff that will really affect the outcome.

Will it fly? Or, will it crash and burn?

And here’s the thing. I’m really not up for a public crash and burn. So, you can bet that I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that I give myself the very best chance of flying high with this new business.

I have one more Red rule. Red means it’s not a deal breaker, but I have to stop and consider it before moving forward.

This one’s all about long term profit. It includes my strategy for pricing and setting myself up so that I can easily add in recurring revenue or even passive income down the road.

And… if you’ve ever thought about selling your company down the road, you don’t want to miss this one.

The Roadmap to $50K: Product Rules that will get me closer to a paycheck

The Roadmap to $50K: Product Rules that will get me closer to a paycheck

Last week I told you about my #1 rule for my new business.
It’s my deal breaker. You can see it here!

I actually have more rules. A lot of rules. They’re not equally important, but in the last few years of running Wee Squeak, and working with clients, I’ve paid attention to what works.

I want to give myself (and you) an advantage. Let’s focus on what works.
In the next few weeks, as we develop our new product, I’ll share all my rules. And then we’ll make a checklist you can print and keep.

In the video I go over the harsh reality when starting from zero:

  • You CAN’T compete on price
  • It’s almost IMPOSSIBLE to compete on convenience
  • You don’t (yet) have a Brand established

But there is a solution. Watch and learn how you can actually take an everyday product, and add tons of value without spending a fortune.

The Secret to Getting Paid

The Secret to Getting Paid

There’s no better feeling than hearing the cash register chime from your phone when you first start running your business. It’s fun and exciting!

But as you continue to run your business and you find yourself struggling to write yourself a paycheck, the fun seems to stop. You start to question why you’re doing it and if you’ll ever get a paycheck.

I know from years of running my businesses that if I don’t get this one thing right, I have no chance of getting a paycheck from my new Shopify store.

Check out the video below as I go through how to:

  • Calculate the amount of margin you need in $
  • Set your minimum viable average order value (so you can pay yourself)
  • Change your pricing strategy to set yourself up for success
