Sock Doggo just had our best month on record!
It’s an exciting achievement and I can’t wait to share how we did it.
I am going to walk you through the 4 things we did that contributed most to our sales.
It’s important, because these are things that every one of you could do, and every one is a strategy that you can repeat.
If you’re following the Roadmap to 50K on Shopify, you know that I am committed to taking you behind the scenes so you can see what I do that works to get traffic and sales. Years ago, when I was building Wee Squeak’s online sales, I could buy lots of training, but I couldn’t find anyone who could just show me what to do, one step at a time.
At Sock Doggo, we just recently moved from the Traffic Stage. I’ve finally got enough traffic thanks to Traffic Bootcamp. I’m finally getting sales almost every day, and I’m headed into Conversion School hoping to hit my first $50K this year.
In this video, I’ll share our June sales, and walk you through the 4 things that mattered most.
Or, here is a quick glance at the 4 steps we took to have our best month yet.
#1 Pay Attention to What Works and Double Down
Yes, it really is that simple.
In late May I noticed that we were starting to sell more men’s socks. It was a lightbulb moment, and I realized it was because of Father’s Day in June.
So I doubled down on that win by creating more emails and more posts about gifts for Father’s Day, and I moved all my ad spend from Ladies to Men’s socks.
#2 Create an Email Plan for the Month
This month we mapped out 4 weeks of email campaigns that helped me get more free traffic and sales.
- We kicked off the month by celebrating our Celebrity Doggo, Doggo Harry’s Birthday with a free shipping day.
- Weeks 2 and 3 were all about our Father’s Day Event where we offered a 4th pair for only $5.
- The last week of June, we simply featured our Stars and Stripes socks for Dachshund lovers.
After all of that, we were still $40 short of my stretch goal.
So, we did a quick 1 day flash sale, which is a little trick from the Marketing Momentum module in our Inner Circle program.

#3 Get a Pop-Up and an Email Welcome Series
This is a must.
With all the campaigns and ads, your site will see an increase in traffic, and good traffic at that! A pop-up is a great way to collect emails and get potential buyers into a welcome funnel to convert.
At Sock Doggo we offered a $5 coupon and our opt in rate was solid. We also got more than $400 in sales from our Welcome Series emails.
#4 Add Fuel to Fire with an Ad.
Adding fuel to the fire is about building on your success at exactly the right time.
In this case, I was building on the momentum around Father’s Day and I decided to do a bit of experimenting with Facebook Ads. While I had marginal success with these ads (I still only have 1 product!!), the potential for this to be wildly successful is there.
My advice, keep this trick in your back pocket and learn to recognize when you can use it to build on an existing campaign.
That’s it! This is what it took to have our best sales month yet!
