A few weeks ago I was working with a small group of smart, successful clients and something happened that literally stopped me in my tracks.

It was one of those moments where a lightbulb goes on and you see the piece of the puzzle you have been missing. Duh.

We were working on our strategic plans. I’ve been using this framework for many years, and I know it is the reason I have experienced huge growth and what feels like success.

I invited each member of the Group to share the current status of their business, and their vision for the status of their business a year from now. As I was listening to them speak about all the things they are doing, and all the things they want to do, it took me back to the time when I used to feel that way.

The time before I had clarity. Good goals are impossible without clarity.

Lack of clarity is why we feel overwhelmed. It’s why we feel like we never get enough done, even though we work like crazy and we’re always “thinking” about our businesses.
It’s why we’re mentally exhausted. All the time.

  • Is my business profitable?

12 month vision of the status of my business:

  • What exactly will annual revenue be?
  • What exactly will I pay myself?
  • What exact problems will be solved?
  • What exactly will my focus be?
  • How many days/hours will I work each week?
  • What will my profit be?
