Reporting 10 months of Sales at my new store

Reporting 10 months of Sales at my new store

At the end of August, we completed our first 10 months of sales at Sock Doggo.

To be honest, when I look back at where we were and where we are now, it’s easy for me to feel disappointed about my progress.

I think that for many people, that’s common.

In the Inner Circle, we do a lot of tracking and measuring.

We track Key Metrics to see our progress.

We do this for two reasons:

1) To understand what works.

2) To take the emotion out of business.

That last point is critical. As business owners, we need to stop feeling our way through the days and instead use the data to drive our decisions and to provide clarity on our next steps.

Today I’m sharing my Key Metrics with you.

Watch and see:

  • My Traffic
  • My Conversion Rate
  • My Sales

In the Screenshot below, you can see my Key Metrics for the first 10 months of business at Sock Doggo.

We’re at the Conversion Stage. In the Conversion Stage, I’m actively working on getting my add to cart rate up. My first goal is to increase the add to cart rate from 2.59% to 4%.

If I can reach that goal, I should be able to get an overall Conversion Rate of 1%.

That’s not my end goal, but it’s a good start!

I know that there’s one thing, above all other that can increase my add to cart %, and get me more sales.
I need to to focus on getting more returning visitors to my site.

In the screenshot below, you can see that the conversion rate for returning visitors is almost double that of new visitors.

So my “one thing” going forward is to increase my returning visitor % from 11% to 30%.

Our Conversion Coach shares her best secrets – Episode 16

Our Conversion Coach shares her best secrets – Episode 16

Our Conversion Coach, Tina Bar-On has seen the back end of a lot of Shopify stores, and she’s a Google Analytics wizard.

Today, she spills the beans on the common mistake she sees store owners make when it comes to conversion.

She’ll share with you what happens on a Coaching Call, and the results you can expect.

Plus, she’ll leave you with her top tips for improving conversion.

Here’s why we have coaches in the Inner Circle:

Way back in the day when I was searching for ways to grow my store, I bought several online courses.
Some were good, some not so good. But the one thing that was disappointing about all of the training was that after I bought the course, there wasn’t a way to get a little extra help.

So sometimes I got stuck. Without an easy way to get unstuck.

I haven’t forgotten how that made me feel and that’s why we don’t let that happen in the Inner Circle.

Our members have exclusive access to our coaches. Whenever they need a little extra help, they can book a call with and get unstuck fast.

Our coaches are fully trained in the program and like me, they’re e-commerce store owners too.

The cost of my new socks and other details

The cost of my new socks and other details

At Sock Doggo, I’m about to receive more than 6000 pairs of socks.

And in all honesty, it couldn’t happen soon enough.

I’ve been selling the same product for 10 months, and it’s been a tough go since our best month in June.

In the next week or so, I should have brand new socks for 4 new breeds of dogs.

The good news is that it’s enough inventory to potentially reach $50K.

The bad news is that I need to build audiences for these new breeds.

Last week I shared how I’m doing that, and as of now, I’m a little more than halfway to my goal of 2000 new email subscribers (you can see how I’m doing it here).

But this week, some fun.

Check out this chat with Izabela Ersahin, the founder of Sector 7, in Istanbul, Turkey. Sector 7 is a Social Enterprise. They employ women who have no opportunity to get traditional employment.

Watch and see how I’m manufacturing our socks, and how you might be able to produce your products in a cost effective way that also does good in the world.

How much did our socks cost?

Our socks cost $1.01 per pair. That included our packaging, but not costs related to shipping. In total the process took about 12 weeks, which was longer than I had planned. It was definitely a learning experience, but I took away a few valuable lessons.

Here are my top 3 takeaways and tips:

1) Give yourself twice as much time as you think you need, the process is not always smooth.

2) Have “feet on the ground “ when your product is being made. Not only does it ensure that you actually get a quality product, but you also get the opportunity to have behind the scenes images and videos to use on social media and email.

3) Manage your expectations. The process is never perfect. Understand that there will be bumps in the road. Treat your manufacturing partner well, and work on a long term relationship that will benefit you over the years.

The delivery of this product will be a major milestone for Sock Doggo and on my journey to 50K. I am excited to share with you our next steps and show you how we’re going to reach our goal!
